China Long March 4B Rocket Launch of Earth Observation Satellites

🚀🛰️Three satellites apiece for groups Yaogan-53 and Yaogan-56 have been delivered to low Earth orbit for remote sensing tasks out of the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center by a Long March 4B rocket. From Launch Site 94 at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China, a Long March 4B lifted off at 03:25 am China Standard Time on October 24, 2026, (19:25 pm Universal Coordinated Time on October 23rd) heading into low Earth orbit with two groups of satellites. Both Yaogan groups are, as their name translates to, remote sensing satellites and have tasks relevant to it. Tasks stated for all six satellites are the support of scientific experiments, land and resource census, agricultural yield estimation, and disaster prevention planning efforts. Commercial firms MinoSpace and GalaxySpace contributed to the development of these groups.

Today’s launch was the 59th mission for the Long March 4B, the 120th launch of the Long March 4 series (Long March 4A, 4B, 4C), the 281st Long March vehicle from the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, and the 673rd launch of the Long March launch vehicle series. This was also the 75th launch from China in 2026.
