Fast Evolving Sunspot AR 4493: Larger than 7 Planet Earths | View from Romania

Solar flares are powerful bursts of energy. Flares and solar eruptions can impact radio communications, electric power grids, navigation signals, and pose risks to spacecraft and astronauts.
Solar cycle 25 is the current solar cycle, the 25th since 1755, when extensive recording of solar sunspot activity began. It started in December 2019 with a minimum smoothed sunspot number of 1.8. It is expected to continue until about 2030. While it was initially predicted by most scientists that cycle 25 would be relatively weak, solar activity has been much stronger than forecasts have indicated.
