Comet 220P/McNaught: View from Czech Republic
220P/McNaught, is a Jupiter-family comet with a 5.5-year orbit around the Sun. It is one of several comets discovered by Australian astronomer, Robert H. McNaught. It reached perihelion (closest approach to the Sun) on June 14, 2026, two weeks after a large outburst where the comet brightened as much as 8,000 times.
The Czech Republic, also known as Czechia and historically known as Bohemia, is a landlocked country in Central Europe. The country is bordered by Austria to the south, Germany to the west, Poland to the northeast, and Slovakia to the southeast.

Image Details: 16x5min, 8" ASA reflector + ASI 6200MC. The image also shows two diffraction spikes from bright stars (magnitudes 3.7 and 3.6) - a blue spike originating from the star ksi Tau and a reddish one from o Tau (the stars themselves lie just beyond the top edge of the image)
