What Happened During the Biggest Geomagnetic Storm in 20 Years | NASA

On May 10, 2024, the first G5 or “severe” geomagnetic storm in over two decades hit Earth. The event did not cause any catastrophic damages, but it did produce surprising effects on our planet. The storm has been called the best-documented geomagnetic storm in history. It spread auroras to unusually low latitudes and produced effects spanning from the ground to near-Earth space.
