U.S. Astronaut & Geoscientist Sian Proctor | International Astronautical Congress
The theme of this year’s International Astronautical Congress in Antalya, Türkiye, is “The World Needs More Space.” For American astronaut and geoscientist Sian Proctor that means making space more inclusive.
Proctor made history aboard Inspiration4 in 2021— the world’s first all-civilian orbital mission—becoming the first female commercial astronaut spaceship pilot.
She spoke to CGTN Europe correspondent Li Jianhua about her journey to space . . . and why a phenomenon she calls “Earthlight” has given her a new sense of purpose.
Dr. Sian Proctor shares her experience as a SpaceX astronaut for the orbital Inspiration 4 Mission during September 16-18, 2021. Dr. Proctor was the first black female astronaut to pilot a spacecraft.
Thousands of scientists, policymakers and companies have descended on Antalya, Türkiye, for the 77th International Astronautical Congress, a gathering of space researchers and industry representatives.
