"The Universe Awaits" | Introducing the New Vera C. Rubin Observatory

"The National Science Foundation–U.S. Department of Energy Vera C. Rubin Observatory will revolutionize the way we explore the cosmos, illuminating the universe’s darkest secrets." Located on a mountaintop in Chile, the observatory will capture the cosmos in exquisite detail. Using the largest camera ever built, the 3200-megapixel LSST Camera, Rubin will repeatedly scan the sky for 10 years and create an ultra-wide, ultra-high-definition time-lapse record of our Universe.

Dr. Vera C. Rubin was an American astronomer. Her work provided convincing evidence for the existence of unseen "dark" matter in the Universe.
